Parks & Recreation Commission

In 1969, the voters of Fruitland Township established a Parks and Recreation Commission who under state law have responsibility for properties turned over to the Commission by the Township Board. Marcus Park, Duck Lake Road Park, and Nestrom Road Park are the responsibility of the Fruitland Township Parks and Recreation Commission.

Fruitland Township Disc Golf Course at Nestrom Road Park

Disc golf has arrived in Fruitland Township! Not familiar with disc golf? Here is a definition:

Disc golf (also called frisbee golf or frolf) is a flying disc sport in which  players throw a disc at a target, and is played using rules similar to golf. It is often played on a course of 9 or 18 holes, but other formats are common. Players complete a hole by throwing a disc from a tee area toward a target, throwing again from the landing position of the disc until the target is reached. Players seek to complete a course in the lowest number of total throws.

The course is an 18-hole course. This is a fun and challenging course that is a perfect fit for everyone. While playing, you will get the chance to see some beautiful scenery of Duck Lake. Please remember to use the stairs whenever possible and always pick up your trash. Also, please pick up any sticks or other things from the fairways as you play. This will keep the course clean and efficient. This course was created and organized by Greg Barrett, Brian Mulnix, and Whitehall Disc Golf. Fruitland Township's Disc Golf Course is 95% completed. On Saturday, June 17th, Parks and Recreation Commissioner Greg Barrett gathered a group of volunteers to pour the pads. He has been instrumental in developing the Fruitland Township Course.

Thank you and enjoy!
